Crafts introduction

As you may or may not have seen, the crafts section was still empty. This is changing right now.

I will give you an introduction about my crafts/creative activities. This is very difficult, I have had so many different hobbies.. drawing, crafting things from paper, origami, clay, beading, crochet and amigurimi. I may have forgotten something. This post is to somewhat show what kinds of crafts you can expect on Hungry at Midnight.

Here’s a global chart of my hobbies.

I have always been creative and I have loved drawing since I was able to. I used to draw everyday and the whole day when I was a kid. Later I started beading and enjoyed that for a while (when I was around 10 years).

In high school I had crafts at school and at home I drew once in a while. Friends would request their name written in some kind of way, like graffiti or big and fat letters, or a drawing of usher. LOL.

When I was 10 I made my first pucca homepage with some help of my dad, who also was no expert. It was also then when me and photoshop first met, but it wasn’t untill high school I started focussing more on graphics with photoshop. Now I’m a self taught photoshopper, indesigner and illustrator. I also edit my photos with Lightroom now. Next to that I have also build a couple of websites for myself, friends and family. This site is also build by me. I think I’m lucky that I was introduced to a computer at the age of six, when I was six the computer was somewhat rare. For a long time I was the only one in my class with a computer at home.

In my fifth year of high school I discovered what cool things can be made with polymer clay, I immediately bought a whole lot for a bargain price since the department store was throwing Fimo out. Since then I have made many small food items mainly and have sold a couple of my items.

I painted my nails a lot and by painting some of my clay stuff I needed to be very precise since everything was ver small. This lead to nail art. I even posted one video on YouTube two years ago.

Right now I’m studying in Delft I am required to draw like an industrial designer, make reports look good, render and also calculate quite a lot. And statistically seen I needed a new hobby, which became crochet!

My grandma, who passed away when I was only six, did both crochet and knitting. I got her knitting and crocheting tools and one time, I think 10 years ago, tried to knit. It was ugly and I was inpatient. Never did it again.

Last Christmas (2011) I was given these cute mittens. Then soon after Christmas Max lost his gloves and I tought “Mmm I can probably make mittens like mine for you”. I went online and purchased crochet hooks on Ebay. They had to come from far and took 3 weeks, I couldn’t wait, one week after purchasing I discovered the crochet hooks (2 very very small ones and one 3mm) from my grandma. I started out trying my first piece that night, the next day bought some cotton yarn and made 5/6th part of sackboy over the weekend. One leg had to be done the weekend after. This is how my love for crochet all started!

The right one is my first crochet/amigurumi project. Parts are inside out and it’s far from perfect. The left one is made by Max, I taught him how to crochet hihi. Craft pi is my tumblr blog, but I don’t update it anymore.

So what you can expect in the crafts section can be anything mentioned above or maybe something new. Who knows?
